Battle of the Books Program - Sponsor: Ms. Tracy Voels
Books certainly aren't left out in our AMS academic atmosphere and our 6th graders are encouraged to participate in our Battle of the Books Program. Participating in this program brings about the enjoyment of reading a variety of fiction books. Students read books found on the Battle of the Books reading list and our team competes with other teams from District #300 middle schools. Students are quizzed on their comprehension of the books. The building team answering the most questions correctly is considered the first place winner.
Beta Club - Sponsors: Mrs. Anna Martin and Ms. Angela Moore
Algonquin Middle School's Beta Club is a nationally sponsored organization for students in grades 7th and 8th. Beta Club is a reward for scholastic, leadership, and service achievements among members of a school's student body. Book Hawks - Sponsor: Ms. Tracy Voels

Intramural Program - The Intramural Program was developed by School Improvement Team, to address the need for 6th graders to explore different areas of physical activity in a noncompetitive atmosphere. The only prerequisite for participation is the willingness to do so. Activities offer are football and volleyball in fall; aerobics/dance and wrestling in winter; and softball and basketball in spring.
Student Council - Sponsors: Mrs. Brooke Hermann and Mrs. Julie Sowadski
As a member of Student Council, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders have the chance to get involved in school by attending monthly morning meetings, planning dances, contributing to charity, and inspiring school spirit. Students can be involved in Student Council by completing an application which includes maintaining a minimum of C grades, essay questions, and peer signatures of support.
